Lessons in a manual car
You learn to use the clutch and change gears. With a licence without code 78 you may then drive any car, automatics included.
Why choose manual lessons at Safety1st?
- Professional, calm guidance.
- Learn to change gears, use the clutch and drive on your own.
- No long waiting times.
- Personal guidance at your pace.
- Practice with traffic situations in South Limburg.
- Clear lesson prices, no surprises.
What do you learn in manual lessons?
- Pulling away and changing gear smoothly.
- The clutch and the hill start.
- Parking and special manoeuvres.
- Observation and reading the traffic.
- Taking part in traffic safely and on your own.
Why manual?
Because you aren't restricted afterwards: manual or automatic, you may drive both. If you pass in an automatic, you must take the practical exam again to drive a manual later (CBR).
What do you learn on top?
Pulling away with the clutch, changing gear at the right moment, and a calm hill start.

Questions
Automatic or manual: what's the difference for your licence?
If you pass in an automatic, your licence gets code 78: you may only drive automatics. To drive a manual later, you take the practical exam again in a manual car (CBR). Not sure yet? Ask about it during your trial lesson.
How many lessons will I need?
It differs per person. According to the CBR, learners in the Netherlands need 41 hours of lessons on average. Our packages have 10, 20 or 35 lessons.
How much is a trial lesson?
A trial lesson costs €50. You pick a time from the available slots and pay for the lesson.
